Animal rescue activity – together with rehabilitation and finding a new home – is still one of the toughest issues for animal welfare organisations in civilised societies. But what about starting and completing the same job at the world toughest and most dangerous places?

The Icelandic Kennel Club (HRFI) celebrated its 45th birthday on September 4th, 2014. The club has grown rapidly over the last few decades and was granted a full FCI membership on the WDS in Paris, in 2011.

The Swedish canine organisation (SKK) was founded on the 13th of December 1889. The founder was Count A P Hamilton. The club consisted mostly of upper class men with an interest in breeding hunting dogs and in hunting. Some of Sweden’s national breeds were formed during this first period of the club’s existence. Dog shows and breed clubs also developed with time.

The non-profit Un Chien pour un Sourire (A Dog for a Smile) - FCI’s partner on several projects – aroused Prince Laurent and Princess Claire’s keen interest during the 30th anniversary of paediatrics at Liege CHR on October 7th.

On the occasion of the FCI International dog show held in Chennai (IN) on 12-14 September, Dr Rosaiah addressed the audience during the Best in Show, underlining dog’s role in society as a service companion: “Dog is a worthy friend for life time.
